Marine + Naval Lighting Systems

Oxley is an innovator in the design and supply of lighting systems and components for naval and marine platforms. Visible LED and optical filter technologies, are our core competences. Our products are proven in-service on warships, fast patrol boats, submarines and aircraft. Night vision lighting, covert, NVG compatible, Oxley NVG Friendly™, is supplied when a high level of reliability - in harsh marine environments - is key to our customer’s operational success.

  Warships

Naval operations increasingly involve joint combat operations with multiple platform inter-operability as an essential element. There is a specific requirement for aircraft operations to be launched from, and recovered to, the flight deck of warships at night on night vision goggles (NVG). The aircraft may already be NVG compatible, but the need for external lighting on the warship must also be addressed.

In achieving the best lighting solution, the individual requirements of flight crew, deck crew and bridge crew must be examined. It’s imperative that the
Warship lights do not cause any deterioration to the NVG image, maintaining the pilot’s clear view of deck references. Equally important, deck crews must have sufficient visible light to carry out their tasks. Consideration must be given to all external lights that may affect the view through NVG from the aircraft; including lights on the bridge and helicopter control station.

Solutions often require provision of Oxley NVG Friendly™ lighting schemes, incorporating white and night vision device (NVD) blue lighting into flight deck lighting and maintaining the original colours of navigation and operational lights. LED technology is more reliable and provides better performance characteristics in many applications, whilst others benefit from optical filter installation.

  Patrol craft

Offshore and fast patrol, RIBs and other small boats, either deployed from warships or operating independently on special operations, benefit from significant operational enhancement with the addition of lights suitable for NVG operations.
