Oxley Finalist for Export Award
3rd August 2018
Oxley Group has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious Best Exporter in the in-Cumbria Business Awards.
The ‘Best Exporter’ category is aimed at companies who have developed new markets. The judges were looking for evidence of significant export sales in relation to an entrant’s size and success in developing new overseas markets to sustain business growth.
For Oxley, international development began in the 1970s. Over the last 4 decades, the team have established partnerships and customer relationships throughout many parts of the world, leading to success in winning large scale contracts with some of the world’s biggest aerospace and defence companies; including General Dynamics, Saab and Boeing. Overseas business accounted for 75% of Oxley sales in 2017 and covered 33 countries across the globe. Oxley is an active DiT Northern Powerhouse Export Champion, encouraging others to grow through exporting.
In 2017 Oxley secured its position as leading the global market in aerospace LED lighting after being selected by Korea Aerospace Industries to develop the full external lighting system on the new KF-X and IF-X Fighter Aircraft programme for the Republic of Korea Air Force and Indonesian Air Force. As part of the development contract Oxley will be supplying a ground-breaking external LED lighting system designed specifically for the jets. The lights will incorporate new smart technology and the range will outperform existing technology to deliver high performance and reliability.
Cumbria is home to world-leading companies at the forefront of global innovation, the in-Cumbria Business Awards are designed to celebrate the success and enterprise of Cumbrian businesses and present an opportunity for companies to showcase their best work and brightest talent.
in-Cumbria editor Luke Dicicco commented on the quality of the entries; "Shortlisting was both inspiring and really tough. It was abundantly clear that the county’s businesses are in great health and doing fantastic things, we set the bar extremely high, and in the case of two categories only picked the very best of the bunch.”
The winners will be revealed at an awards event hosted by Jeremy Vine at the Halston Hotel in Carlisle on November 15.
