Oxley Group has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious Best Community Involvement Award in the in-Cumbria Business Awards. The category recognises businesses that have shown commitment to putting something back into the local community, this year the category focuses on businesses who have helped their communities during the coronavirus crisis.
Oxley was a selected as a finalist for it’s work in designing and manufacturing urgently needed PPE. Following a request from the local NHS the Oxley team rapidly designed a face visor that could be manufactured quickly and supplied straight to front line workers.
The Oxley designers created a prototype in regular dialogue with NHS contacts. The team overcame sourcing challenges to secure stock despite the global shortage of materials and the Ulverston team set up a dedicated production line. The whole on-site team worked in shifts (following Government distancing guidelines) to produce the visors. Oxley then deployed a team to proactively contact organisations needing support and arrange visor delivery, this process was completed in just two weeks.
The team worked tirelessly to overcome challenges, drawing on their core values of innovation and flexibility. They delivered visors to over 80 locations in Cumbria including the NHS, Care homes, community care providers, doctors’ surgeries, dentists, schools, charities and community groups, all on a free of charge basis.
Cumbria is home to world-leading companies at the forefront of global innovation, the in-Cumbria Business Awards are designed to celebrate the success and enterprise of Cumbrian businesses and present an opportunity for companies to showcase their best work. The winners will be revealed at a virtual awards event hosted by Vassos Alexander on the 12th November.
